Project Help Ukraine”

The Russian invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022 has triggered Europe’s greatest humanitarian refugee crisis since World War II. It is estimated that Poland has accepted nearly 3 million refugees already and there are still approximately 30 thousand new refugees crossing the Polish-Ukrainian border every day. Over 90% of these refugees are women and children. The rest are mainly elderly and/or ill people. The men remained in the Ukraine to fight the Russians.

Rotary E-Club Poland’s “The Future is Now!” 2023 Project

Target group: orphaned kids who were evacuated in 2022 from Ukrainian state foster homes in the war zones and housed in isolation in temporary refugee camps in the Kaszuby Region in northern Poland as well as several kids from family orphanages still operating in Ukraine. These orphaned kids who were already in foster homes for various reasons are now experiencing additional trauma as a result of the war and their emergency evacuation to Poland. Our project is aimed at giving these kids an opportunity to join the summer camp, take part in sports (football, beach volleyball, badminton, swimming, trekking etc.), engage in social integration activities with Polish peers.

Camp location: Baltic Sport Centre in Cetniewo – on the Baltic Sea coast (address: Baltic Sport, ul. Żeromskiego 52, 84-120 Władysławowo-Chłapowo)

Dates: 28.07 – 07.08.2023 (11 days)

Cost of sending one Ukrainian child to the integration camp: 2500 PLN (575 USD)
